(Ahlul Bayt News Agency) - According to knowledgeable sources that Saudi authorities on 10 July 2011 freed 11 Shi'ite citizens detained for taking part in demonstrations in Qatif calling for the release of the so-called “Forgotten Prisoners,” nine Shia Saudis detained without charge or trial for over 12 years over unproven allegations of their involvement in the 1996 attacks on US military targets in Khobar that killed 19 Americans.
The Sources confirmed that six of those prisoners reached their homes on Sunday and others were expected to be free within hours .
On other hand , the Saudi security authorities detained on 9 July 2011 the Shi'a citizen (Mustafa Mohammad Al Qraif , from al-Awwamiyah town in Qatif.
Al Qraif was halted by a police check-point when he was returning home. He was led to prison under a charge of taking part in last demonstrations in Qatif.
Shi'a citizens of Qatif have staged protests to demand the release of prisoners and also to call on political reforms in Saudi political system , and also called for the Peninsula Shield Force to be withdrawn from Bahrain .
The Saudi authorities are still holding for more than 100 Shiites accused of participation of last demonstrations in Qatif .
